Steve Pile Band presents The George Harrison Birthday Bash: All Things Must Pass. Vol. 1, Saturday February 23, 2013.

Come celebrate the music and life of the mystical, sensitive and groundbreaking Beatle, George Harrison.

Steve Pile Band teams up with a slew of Sonoma County virtuosos to present the first album of George Harrison’s 3 record opus, “All Things Must Pass.” Joining them will be Isaac Carter on guitar, Josh Yenne (Easy Leaves, Mazzy Star) on pedal steel, Jess Young on keyboard, and Jason Thor(Free Peoples) and Alex Garcia on sax, as well as guest vocalists joining throughout the show.

Along with playing the first Album of “All Things Must Pass” in its entirety and in order, they will be playing a handful of other George favorites from The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburies and his solo career. As a tribute to his love of the Ukelele, the Butterdishes (a ukelele Duo) will open up the night!

As a special treat and homage to George’s groundbreaking forays into Indian classical music, Chris Vibberts will be playing a short set with Sitar and tabla, as well as joining the band for a song during their set. Other surprises will surely emerge.

About the project: “I first had the idea for the Birthday Bash after taking part in a John Lennon Birthday Party in Austin a few years back. It was so cool to see the songs honored and give people a chance to hear some of the more obscure stuff live. I thought that George deserved the same kind of treatment, and no one seemed to be doing anything like this in the Bay Area. The last few years, I’ve been in Africa during his birthday so the timing hasn’t worked out. Now we can finally do it. Rather than just playing a slew of hits, we thought it would be cool to play “All Things Must Pass” in its entirety over the course of the next few years. Of course we’ll throw in some other favorites in there too. Hopefully it can become a tradition!”
