Daniel Handler will read from Book 1 of Lemony Snicket’s 4 book autobiographical series called ‘Who Could it be at this Hour?’

The real Lemony Snicket, author of “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” will not be at Copperfields in Petaluma this Thursday night, November 1st, at 7 p.m. But that’s hardly anything new.  The elusive Mr. Snicket rarely makes public appearances, which isn’t so unfortunate since it’s rumored he’s not especially pleasant.  In this local unfortunate event, it will actually be Daniel Handler, the stand-in representative for Mr. Snicket (who eerily claims the same voice as the mysterious author according to the few radio appearances Mr. Snicket has made).

Question is, who is the REAL Lemony Snicket?  That question has been partially answered through “Who Could it Be at This Hour? – All the Wrong Questions,” the first novel of a four book autobiographical series about the demented writer.  Readers are taken on an adventure when Snicket was a mere 13-year-old boy just beginning his apprenticeship in a secret society that shouldn’t be written about, and certainly shouldn’t be read.

That’s probably why Daniel Handler will be doing Lemony Snicket’s dirty work for him.
