It’s been more than 40 years since Graham Nash wrote the song “Chicago” about the 1968 Democratic convention, which erupted into riots.

“We can change the world, re-arrange the world,” Nash wrote. The song first appeared on a Nash solo album but soon became a concert staple for David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Nash — “Crosby, Stills & Nash,” or just CSN.

Though the political landscape has changed dramatically since that time, CSN’s anthems still ring true, and, judging by reviews of their 2012 tour, still resonate with audiences.

“I have seen CSN several times over the years, this was by far the best show yet!” wrote an enthusiastic reviewer of the Sept. 7 show at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater, posted on Ticketmaster.com. “David Crosby’s voice was better than it has ever been.”

Promoter Rick Bartalini, who’s bringing CSN to the Marin Center on Sept. 23, said the North Bay is “rich with music history, culture and liberal politics. I can’t imagine a better band to play (here) than CSN.”

CSN’s latest offering, a CD/DVD package that captures their current tour in a 153-minute video, includes most of the band’s chestnuts, including “Marrakesh Express,” “Love the One You’re With” and “Teach Your Children Well.” The set has garnered favorable reviews.
