VIDEO: Flying high above the Sonoma County Fair

To provide a different view of this year’s Sonoma County Fair, which opened Wednesday.  The Press Democrat worked with Jake Bayless, who filmed and produced this video. The footage was taken on July 24, with the permission of Fair officials. At least 200,000 people are expected to attend the 17-day run of the annual event. Horse racing begins at 1:15 p.m., as it will each Wednesday through Sunday for the next three weeks.

The camera was a GoPro Hero2 attached to a custom manufactured “quadcopter” which was based on designs and hardware available at DIYdrones.com.
