Two local farmers markets will feature Hawaiian music this weekend to pair an islandy feel with the beautiful weather

Musical Markets: Most farmers markets have some sort of live music on market days. This coming weekend, two are featuring Hawaiian tunes.

On Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Da Puna Bruddahs will perform at the Marin County Farmers Market in San Rafael. This market, founded in 1987, is the third-largest market in California and is worth a trip south if you’ve never visited it. Da Puna Bruddahs are also performing Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Sweet T’s Restaurant and Bar (2097 Stagecoach Road, Santa Rosa) and next Friday, July 27, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the French Garden Restaurant (8050 Bodega Highway) in Sebastopol.

Sweet & Simple, a group of five local musicians — Gary Sugiyama on guitar, ukulele and vocals; Clay Wilson, on guitar, ukulele and vocals; Linda Green, on bass, ukulele and vocals; Karen Wagner, on ukulele and vocals and Jerry Wagner, on steel guitar — who specialize in the music of the Pacific Islands and Tin Pan Alley, play at the Healdsburg Farmers Market on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.

Camping with the Devil: Most summer camp opportunities are arranged months in advance but if you’re a last-minute kind of parent, you may be pleased to know there is still space available at Devil’s Gulch Ranch’s summer day camp.

The ranch has partnered with the Marin YMCA and as of press time there was space available in three upcoming sessions, July 23 to 27, July 30 to Aug. 3 and Aug. 6 to 10. This camp takes place on a working ranch that specializes in rabbits, pigs, sheep, wine grapes and asparagus and offers an opportunity for kids to connect directly with an agricultural operation, to learn how to care for animals, to garden and more. The property includes forests, creeks, meadows and abundant wildlife and there is plenty of free play time for exploring.

Camp begins at 8:30 a.m., when campers are transported to the ranch and concludes at 4:30 p.m., when they are returned to the pick-up location at the Marin Y (1500 Los Gamos Drive, San Rafael). Cost is $410 for the general public and $370 for members of the Y.
