One of the "chicks" in a past year's Butter & Eggs Day Parade

What would the town of Petaluma be without a parade?  I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to find out.

Ever since the city was forced to reduce their funds for the parade, the Butter & Eggs Day Parade has been on shaky ground. Through creativity and several fun parties thrown to fundraise for the event, the local businesses and patrons of Petaluma have managed to keep the parade afloat. Because of them, we are still able to gather as a town, cheer on the cutest chick, and celebrate in the streets at party that promotes community in a way Petaluma is known for.

The Downtown Petaluma Association buttons being sold to raise money to continue the Butter and Eggs Parade.

Monday, April 2nd is one of those fundraising events – and one of the most fun ways to help keep the parade going strong.  The Lagunitas Taproom will be hopping from 5:30-8:30pm at the “Friends of the Parade” button launch and party to raise funds for the parade.  Live music by Randy & the Special Agents and The Smokehouse Gamblers will keep the mood lively, and of course there will be great food, libations, prizes, and more.

Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets, as well as at the Petaluma Visitor’s Center (210 Lakeville St, Petaluma).  And if they don’t sell out beforehand (and it’s a major possibility they will), they’ll also be available at the door.  Adults are $20, kids under 12 are $5.  Friends of the Parade buttons are $5 each and help towards keeping the parade going.

The Lagunitas Taproom is located at 1280 N McDowell Blvd, Petaluma. For more information visit petalumadowntown.com.

P.S. Don’t forget to mark your calendars – the Butter & Eggs Day Parade falls on April 28th, 2012
