You don’t need a pot of gold, a ginger beard, or even need to be Irish to run like a leprechaun in the St. Patrick’s Day Run/Walk, a fundraiser for the Santa Rosa Rec & Park Dept.

But green’s a good color to sport in this pre-corned beef dash to the finish.

To commemorate the luck of the Irish holiday on 3/17, a 3.17 mile course has been mapped out that will begin and end at Juilliard Park. Finish the race and you’ll be awarded a commemorative mug ready to be filled with the frothy beverage of your choice.  Other activities include a post-run Irish dinner of corned beef and cabbage, prepared by the culinary artists at Worth Our Weight. Terry Savastano will perform comedic Celtic music to entertain the masses.

Advance registration is $25 for adults and $15 for 18-year-olds and younger. Tickets can be purchased at ci.santa-rosa.ca.us, at Steele Community Center (415 Steele Lane), or by going to their pre-register site. Sign-ups will also be available on March 15-16 at Fleet Feet Sports (111 3rd St.)

Adults registering at Juilliard Park on St. Patrick’s Day will pay $35 while the cost for those 18-and-under increases to $20.

Event schedule:

1 p.m.: Event day registration opens.

3 p.m.: Run/walk begins

4 p.m.: Irish celebration starts

People not participating in the run/walk can buy “dinner only” tickets for $12. Finley Community Center and Bennett Valley Senior Center are selling those tickets.
