Saturday February 11, Amphora Winery hosts “Amphoradisiac, a Winemaker’s Dinner.” It takes place in the winery’s cellar, which will be transformed into an intimate dining room filled with candlelight and roses for the occasion.

What is most notable about this event is that the feast will be prepared by chef Martin Courtman, a long-time favorite chef who is not as visible as he was when at the helm at Chateau Souverain, now Francis Coppola’s Rustic.

The menu begins with Foreplay, featuring Tomales Bay oysters, ahi tuna tartare and smoked salmon mousse with caviar. At First Base, you’ll enjoy a soup featuring mushrooms from Sebastopol’s Gourmet Mushrooms with foie gras ravioli. At Second Base, it’s pave of beef short loin with Bordelaise sauce, warm Dungeness salad and market vegetables.

Should you make it all the way to Third Base, you’ll be served local greens with toasted pecans, feta and a black pepper-red wine vinaigrette. Dinner concludes with Happy Ending, featuring a flourless chocolate cake with white chocolate cream and fresh raspberry coulis.

The evening gets started at 5:30 p.m. and costs $135 per person for the general public; wine club members pay $115.
