Fans of X Factor will love this little tidbit of news we came across.  Finalist Chris Rene, everybody’s favorite “bad” boy with a good heart, will be playing the Phoenix Theater on Friday February 10th, 8pm (doors open 7:30).  Rene, the garbage man from Santa Cruz, had a  back-story that included a sordid past and a battle with drug addiction – hurdles he overcame in favor of success on the stage.  The result was not only an obvious talent (he reached third place in the X Factor), but love and support from millions of fans who rooted for his recovery and even related with his struggles.  And as of recently, he is signing with LA Reid’s label Epic Records.

The falsetto singing, concise rapper will take the stage after several local bands, including hiphopsters ACTIV808 (a mashup of 808 Band and Radio Active Spearhead).  Also performing are Mac Jar & Monikape, Ghambit & Sincere, Infamouz Band, Special Guests Rich Tycoon and Giant, and DJ Myke-1 (Allmighty DJs).  The concert serves as a benefit for “Love Life n Skate”.

Admission is $20 advance, $25 door.  Tickets can be found at thephoenixtheater.com.  And judging by the way all his other shows have been selling out, I suggest you buy them now.

Phoenix Theater is located at 201 Washington St. in Petaluma.  Contact them at 762-3565.
